Antennas having a constant pattern in the azimuthal plane are commonly referred to as omnidirectional antennas.

These antennas have a donut-shaped elevation pattern, which means they radiate equal power in all directions in the azimuth plane. The radiation pattern of an antenna is measured by traversing the entire x-y plane around the antenna under test. The beamwidth of an antenna or the 3 dB beam width of the antenna is termed as half null beam width.
