It is said that Abraham Lincoln had three sons. However, DNA evidence suggest that these three sons were not his. Instead, they were the sons of a woman named Nancy Hanks. It is a long debated question whether Abraham Lincoln had any kids at all. Many historians argue that this question does not matter because he was never married and there was no evidence to prove otherwise.
Some historians have compiled data on children born to women called Mary Todd Lincoln, who was believed to be the mother of Abraham Lincoln’s children and Nancy Hanks, who would later become the mother of Abe’s three sons.
Abraham Lincoln did have children, but it is not clear how many. He had two natural children, one adopted child, and one step-child.
Some of the most iconic moments in U.S. history were written by Abraham Lincoln himself. These include the Gettysburg Address and the Emancipation Proclamation, among others. It is very difficult to determine his exact number of children since he was never married and had no interest in having a family or even getting married or starting a family with any women that he was attracted to during his lifetime.
