Active absorption is a technique we use to focus on something as if we are physically touching or seeing it. Passive absorption uses mental imagery to make us experience something.
When you are absorbed in an activity, you are focused and engaged with the task at hand. In contrast, passive absorption involves a different type of attention which is much more introspective and inward-looking.
When you are absorbed in an activity, your mind is actively focused on the task at hand and your body may be moving or doing the same actions as what you see happening in your mind’s eye. In contrast, passive absorption allows us to completely disconnect from our physical selves and enter into a state of heightened awareness where we can internally explore our thoughts more deeply.
