The Answer Is A
During an open circuit test of a transformer, the primary winding is supplied with the rated voltage while the high voltage winding remains open.
Simultaneously, a voltmeter is connected to measure the secondary voltage, while a wattmeter is used to measure the input power and voltage. This test helps in determining the no-load current I0 and no-load loss (core loss) of the transformer. It can also be used to obtain the efficiency, voltage regulation, and copper losses of the transformer at full load.
Furthermore, an open circuit test is also used to measure the iron losses in the transformer. Thus, it provides valuable information about the transformer’s performance and helps in ensuring its efficient operation.
