Answer:
How much oatmeal is good for a dog? That depends on what you are feeding it. Your dog is not going to have the same nutritional needs as a human. For example, your best option for your pup’s diet is to feed them homemade food containing lean meats, vegetables and fruit with preserved pure water. This answer would be relevant if oatmeal was being included in this otherwise complete diet, but it won’t really tell you how much oatmeal they should eat when it’s their sole food source.
Answer: It depends on the size of the dog. You could have a cup or two a day for an average-sized dog, but more is not our better since oatmeal is very high in carbohydrates which can lead to diarrhea.
Oats are one of the most ideal grains for human consumption because they are digested slowly and thus provide sustained energy throughout the day (similar to how pasta provides sustained energy). They also ease hypertension, improve appetite, help combat hunger pangs, lower cholesterol levels including LDL cholesterol level that’s often elevated if you’ve got intestines that leak nutrients. Oats aka comfort food has both soluble and insoluble fiber which end up binding with cholesterol molecules before it ever reaches your colon wall. And lastly, oats are a good source of B vitamins, magnesium and manganese.
