One of the major problems that clients face in their skin care routine is hyperpigmentation. This is a problem that often affects women over the age of 30. While there are various reasons for this, including sun damage and hormones, many people believe that it can be avoided. Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation or PIH, as it’s called by some researchers, is caused when the underlying layer of skin cells regrows after an injury or exposure to harmful substances like UV light (think sunburn). There are several ways to prevent PIH:

    1. Avoid UV light exposure and use sunscreen all year round
    2. Apply salicylic acid gel once a week for 3 weeks (this will help reduce pigmented spots)
    3. Use bleaching creams like Nivea Ultra Whitening

How to Get Rid of Hyperpigmentation Fast:

Research on the best way to prevent hyperpigmentation has been somewhat inconclusive. Some studies suggest that simply applying vitamin A can inhibit the return of melanin and help the skin remain more even. Other studies, however, show that applying vitamin A in large quantities might actually make the pigment become worse and more even. This might be caused by the sudden increase in the production of melanin as a result of the vitamin A. In other words, make sure to avoid large amounts of vitamin A in your skin care products.

    Using wax:

If you suffer from hyperpigmentation in one area of the face, you can avoid it by putting a patch of cream over your entire face. The reason why you might need to do this is that any affected area (be it acne or PIH) will already be sensitive, and will have a difficult time working with something that has a small percentage of potential soothing ingredients. This is why an intensive hydration and exfoliation routine should be included in your skin care routine.

    Using a charcoal mask:

at least once a week will lighten skin pigmentation in most cases. If you’re suffering from hyperpigmentation, you’ll need to buy an active charcoal mask, follow the instructions carefully. For hyperpigmentation that is localized, you can use a collagen mask or a mixed pack of the charcoal and hyaluronic acid.

    1. Vitamin C

Vitamin C has been used for decades to treat hyperpigmentation. The main reason why it has been proven to work is because vitamin C is known to stimulate collagen synthesis, which is one of the three factors responsible for skin growth. When it comes to products that claim to contain vitamin C, the most popular and inexpensive is vitamin C-packed AHA. You can also get it in tablet form. One recent study showed that supplementation with vitamin C significantly reduced signs of PIH in sun damaged, age-accelerated skin.

    Wash your skin:

Everyone knows that washing the skin helps to remove dirt, dirt and oil, but it also helps to remove redness and other toxins. Washing your skin at least once a day helps to improve hyperpigmentation.

    Lemon and honey mask:

This is a highly effective remedy for hyperpigmentation that can help to fade the skin discoloration. Rub a tablespoon of honey on the affected area and cover it with a mixture of 1 tsp of fresh lemon juice and 2 tbsp of finely ground up coconut. Wash off with lukewarm water.

some tips to maintain the hyperpigmentation:

    1. Avoid the sun as much as possible

    2. Avoid makeup and washing the face for at least 2-3 days after you get home from the beach. Wearing a mask for 8 hours will protect the skin from free radicals

    3. Sun cream and makeup are an essential part of your skin care routine, especially if you are going to the beach

    4. If you work outdoors, wear a hat and protective clothing

    5. Protect your skin with makeup or protective clothing whenever you go out in the sun or in inclement weather

    6. Light therapy is a quick and effective method to treat PIH

    7. Eat a nutritious diet that provides your body with an essential array of vitamins and minerals

    8. Avoid environmental stress, such as exposure to high temperatures or cold

    9. Reduce stress with meditation and breathing exercises

Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation is commonly treated with vitamin A cream, hyaluronic acid (HA), and light therapy. Vitamin A is one of the most effective factors to treat hyperpigmentation, especially the “golden cream” which is available over-the-counter. In this cream, multiple vitamin A molecules are mixed together to deliver the most effective results. This mixture provides an immediate anti-ageing effect. Unfortunately, you can’t get this cream outside the US. HA is another ingredient that you can find in skincare products and also deliver results. HA is an effective treatment for hyperpigmentation that helps the skin get rid of the dark spots on your face. This also helps in fading the color of hyperpigmentation which might be caused by sunburn.

Many people will take a different approach when it comes to treating their hyperpigmentation. Here are some of the top tips:

    1. Exfoliate: This may sound counterproductive because it will strip your skin of its natural oils. However, scrubbing off dead skin cells can help improve the tone of your skin, brightening the skin, and also get rid of the darker spots that come along with PIH.
    2. Anti-aging Skin Serums: This is the best option for women who are suffering from PIH. This is because many of these products contain skin whitening agents or even melanin, which fights the hyperpigmentation. If you can’t decide on which one, we recommend you use sun block to protect your skin from the UV rays that can help flare up PIH.
    3. Try a night cream: According to several experts in the field, a night cream could be one of the most effective ways to get rid of hyperpigmentation, especially in the case of PIH. As people head to sleep, their skin will get most of the antioxidants that it needs to heal itself.
    4. Use a sunscreen with UVB protection: One of the biggest things that could lead to hyperpigmentation is unprotected sun exposure. One of the best ways to avoid PIH is to use a sunscreen with at least 30 SPF that protects your skin from the sun. Avoid creams with oxybenzone, a common ingredient that has been linked to hyperpigmentation.
    5. Get a skin consultation: As you age, you’ll notice that your skin begins to lose its firmness. This is a natural part of your skin’s aging process, and there are ways to combat this. Seeing a dermatologist or skin specialist is one way to find out the cause of hyperpigmentation, and learn how to prevent PIH. You’ll also have the opportunity to learn about any medications that are prescribed to you and what their side effects are.
    6. Apply essential oils: to your skin and/or breathe them in during the day. Essential oils can improve your complexion and kill some bacteria that cause PIH. They are also known to help with hot flashes.
