Answer is option B) i.e 1991
India’s first ocean wave’s energy project was launched in 1991. The project, known as the Vizhinjam wave energy plant, was the world’s first wave power plant working on oscillating water column (OWC) technology. Located in the Vizhinjam harbour, the plant was developed by the Centre for Wind Energy Technology (C-WET). The plant has two turbines which can generate up to 100kW of electricity each, and can generate energy from wave heights of up to 4m. The plant is seen as a major step forward in harnessing renewable energy from the ocean.
