Lala Lajpat Rai, also known as ‘Sher-e-Punjab’ and ‘Punjab Kesari’, was an Indian freedom fighter and British politician born on 28 January 1865 in the village of Dhudike in the Ferozepur district.
He was an Agarwal Jain and his uncompromising stance and infinite courage took the lead against the British. His bravery and dedication to the cause of Indian independence earned him the title of ‘Sher-e-Punjab’ (Lion of Punjab) or ‘Punjab Kesari’.
