      The starting torque of a three-phase induction motor can be increased by increasing slip, increasing current, and/or increasing rotor resistance.

      Increasing slip involves changing the speed of the motor while increasing current involves adjusting the stator resistance. Increasing the rotor resistance can be done by inserting additional resistance in the rotor circuit. This will improve the power factor and thus the starting torque.

      Additionally, an induction motor can be started directly online using a DOL starter, which increases the starting torque. The starting torque is usually between 1.5 and 2.5 times the full load torque.
