Answer: The most expensive catalytic converters are in the McLaren P1, Lamborghini Centenario, Mercedes S65 AMG and Ferrari 812 Superfast.

One of the components typically found in a car’s exhaust system is a converter. Designed to go over the exhaust pipe it chemically converts soot and hydrocarbons into less harmful substances before they leave the engine. Converters became compulsory when leaded petrol was phased out in many countries however these converters require costly precious metals such as platinum to function effectively which means that cars with efficient converters have been classed as more luxurious than cheaper models without them ever since their introduction into production line-ups from 2008 onwards by manufacturers such as Lamborghini, Lotus-Citroen, Maserati and others.
