Yellow is a secondary color, meaning it is made up of mixing two primary colors. Red and Green both make the visible Yellow when they’re combined, but red is more intense than blue, so it dominates when mixed with yellow to form the combination we call “orange”.
Orange and Green mixed very well; the end result would be a dull yellow which does not quite match the intensity of true yellow. As for transparency, light needs to pass through one color of pigment at a time in order to turn another color on top of it, so filters such as red or green acts as blockers. If two colors mix very well with each other, you will create something else like pink or brown – not an ugly mix but the brightest thing imaginable!
