      Answer:

WGO is a common acronym for “What’s Going On?”. WGO comes from the era of Morse Code where it was convention to start your message with the question. There are many different ways that somebody could communicate this to you, depending on their level of creativity (or not), but it usually means something like “what is happening?” or “what has been going on?”.

It an expression of interest in someone else’s life or current events. The shortening may also come from words like ‘wha’r’ya,’ ‘wassup’, and ‘whatta’. This expression can be used as both a singular noun (How is everything? What’s goin’ on?) and an interrogative expression (What’s going on?). The expression is still widely used today.
