Here’s the thing. “Thanks to all who attended our event” sounds conversational. It’s more personal, like a letter to each person you’re addressing. “Thanks, everyone, for your support in this difficult time.” sounds like what you’d write in a platform letter (like this one), like a covering note that everyone in the public can read. “Thank you, everyone” is what you’d say (like this one), but it sounds very stiff. That’s why I preferably use the former or the latter. 🙂
I doubt there is an actual problem with this. It’s probably just a case where everyone wants to make sure they use “the correct” one. For me, it’s a matter of context. It’s a formal event, so “thanks to all” is a good choice. If you’re thanking everyone in the community, you could probably just go with the informal options (“Thanks all,” “Thank you everyone”). I have no preference between the other two options.
Hope that helps you!
Three common ways to say “thanks to all who [x]” (or “thanks to everyone who [x]”). It is a matter of style and preference. In my view, the first one is a little more formal, while the second and third are more casual. The second one is strongly preferred in the United States, while the third is more common outside of the U.S..
