Answer: Irrigation is the method of applying water to agricultural land for irrigation purposes. It has many purposes, including removal of excess surface water from fields, relaxation of soil tensions created by compaction or absorbing excess heat in summer to delay or prevent heat damage to plant leaves.

Irrigation technologies are quite sophisticated, the most common being drip irrigations systems which employ drip lines that deliver water at slow rates. Another form is what will be called “surface irrigation” in some countries just consists of draining agricultural lands with open ditches or channels, while some other nations have made use of more sophisticated systems employing motor-driven pumps and pressure tanks.

Answer: irrigation is the act of subsurface water application to crops, pastureland, or forested areas with the intention of supplying usable water for consumption by plants by either capillary action or gravity.

Irrigation can be thought of as an essential agricultural practice which has historically allowed civilization to flourish. Without irrigation farming communities are often faced with harvest limits that are imposed by drought conditions during high heat periods in summer months when crop moisture needs are at their height. Although most types of irrigation strategies have some drawbacks, properly designed and managed systems provide food for an increasing world population while minimizing soil erosion risk, pollution damage and depletion due to over-pumping groundwater supplies in dry climates where rainfall is unpredictable.

Answer: irrigation is the process of watering a plant by means of artificial methods, as from a hosepipe or an overhead sprinkler.

Irrigation can refer to some efforts to reuse water “wasting” on outdoor landscaping–such as using reclaimed water solely for use on drought-tolerant plants or going so far as to pipe it all the way up a mountain for redistribution at a higher elevation. But if you’re asking about more traditional uses, generally irrigation is considered an essential part in ensuring that the right amount of moisture finds its way into your home’s soil and ultimately up to your plants’ root zones.
