in the realm of communication can be termed as one that is similar to the difference between fixed line phones and mobile phones. While fax was the means to send documents from one place to another electronically using telephone lines, email is a method where the user types text on his computer screen and instantly sends it across using internet to any person anywhere in the world.

Fax is an analog, or analogue communication method where physical documents are sent using telephone wires, while email is a digital or electronic transmission of messages. Email is faster as it does not involve the usage of telephone wires and it can be directly transferred from one user to another. On the other hand, fax technology involves sending data using telegraph wires that transmit signals through radio waves, as is evident from the telegraph.

In the initial years of its inception, fax was considered to be an old fashioned communication method. But as time passed, fax was used more and more for business communication and it gradually caught the fancy of consumers owing to its superior features.

On the other hand, faxing involves transmitting digital files in batches of up to 25 copies. But to send an email, one needs to open an email account or create a message and then upload the email on the email server. But an email can be opened just like any other website with a web browser.
