      Answer:

The full form of IGP is Inspector General of Police. The IGP is the head of the Indian police force. He reports to the Ministry of Home Affairs and is responsible for law and order in the country.

The I.G.P. is assisted by two types of subordinates – the Additional Director-General of Police (A.D.-G.P.), who is junior to him, and the Deputy Inspector-General of Police (D.-I.-G.P.), who is senior to him but subordinate to the A.D.-G.P.. The rank of Inspector General of Police was introduced in 1861, when Indian police were first organized into a centralized force under British rule.

Answer: Inspector General of Police (abbreviated IGP) is a rank in the police forces of many countries. In some countries, the IGP is a civilian position; in others, it is a senior military rank.

The inspector general of police is generally head of the national police force or a member of its governing board, and reports directly to the minister of interior or national security. The title usually refers to the most senior officer in charge of law enforcement, sometimes overseeing several regional districts.
