Answer: The worst thing about Planet Fitness is that it’s a corporation. They want money from you, not your health. I’m 16 and was offered a free membership by the representative sitting at the desk in the store when I was signing up for school. Let me tell you how it turned out.
In my sophomore year of high school, I had been going to this gym for months before sophomore football training began and really depended on being able to go there after class or whenever possible to work out after a practice or game because our coach doesn’t offer much conditioning outside of practices and games for us 130lb bench warmers like myself, but now with even more pressure from teammates who actually played offensive line telling me “you’re worthless if you can’t even squat the bar”, I need to start doing squats.
Answer: Planet Fitness was a gym that offered a good price but a poor workout.
It offers memberships for as low as $10/month, all while providing cheap amenities such as no service contract or initiation fees. What’s so bad about it? It provides cheap amenities and cheaper memberships at the expense of not having great trainers and equipment, no cancellation policy, and intentionally poor water pressure in their showers.
Planet fitness doesn’t emphasize group classes like at your more expensive gyms; instead it has many cardio machines with TV’s mounted to them. Space is limited in here because of this, so often times there will only be one row of treadmills available for people to use even though they may have 20+ machines in the room.
There are no personal trainers here, only “certified fitness instructors” who are often times not very knowledgable or in shape themselves.
Another bad thing about this gym is the water pressure in their showers are intentionally poor. I’ve never showered at any of their gyms without getting half-assed wet because the water comes out so slowly and it barely reaches you.
