The National Centre for Antarctic and Ocean Research (NCPOR) is located in Vasco da Gama, Goa, India.
It is an autonomous research and development institution under the Union Ministry of Earth Sciences. Formerly known as the National Center for Antarctic and Ocean Research, it was established in 1998 and has since then been a well-known name in its field.
NCPOR is responsible for the management and upkeep of the Indian Antarctic Research Bases “Maitri” and “Bharati”, as well as the Indian Arctic base “Himadri”. It is also the nodal agency for coordinating and implementing India’s Antarctic program.
