      Two expressions that are equivalent have the same value when we plug in a specified number for each variable. For example, if you wanted to solve “3x + 4 = 7” using an equation with two variables (a+b) where both sides of this equals sign were equal but not their values-the answer would be found by plugging anything into either side such as 12 or 23 depending upon which one was available at time).
