The largest shipyard in India is the Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL). Located in Kochi, it is India’s first and largest shipbuilding and maintenance facility.
It is also commonly known as the Jawaharlal Nehru port. This harbour spans two islands in Lake Kochi, namely Willingdon Island and Vallarpadam Island.
It is the deepest port in India and is the sole mechanized port in the country. It is also the first transshipment port in India and the leading exporter of iron ore.
